We depend on volunteers to help us do the meaningful work that we do.
The outreach committee consists of volunteers and RJFS staff who work together to develop and implement the various outreach programs we offer. These include Share-a-Shabbat, the RJFS/ARC Collaborative, Send-a-Friend and our newest endeavor, Traditions, which brings Jewish culture and celebrations to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.
Volunteers work with RJFS staff to plan, develop and implement several fundraising activities and events throughout the year. Our major fundraising event is our annual gala.
RJFS volunteers work with the Rhoda Bloom Kosher Food Pantry of Rockland County and various synagogues in the area to provide staples to needy families in the County. Once a month, volunteers prepare bags of non-perishable food to be picked up by the families enrolled in the program.
Office volunteers play an important part in helping our agency run efficiently. Volunteers in the office assist with a variety of tasks such filing papers, answering the phone, preparing mass mailings and other such responsibilities.
For these or any other volunteer opportunities, please contact Roberta Leitner, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (845)354-2121, ext. 152 or email reception@rjfs.org.
Email us at reception@rjfs.org and let us know what you’re interested in. Once you have reached out to us, we will contact you about available opportunities and see what works for your schedule and ours. We look forward to finding a way to work with you that satisfies your interest and expertise.
